Introduced by the Law & Courts, Administrative Services/Personnel and Finance Committees of the:

INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

WHEREAS, funds through the Inmate Commissary are designed to enhance inmate accommodations at the Ingham County Sheriff= s Office; and

WHEREAS, the construction and installation of an environmental screening unit for the Jail= s sewer system is necessary to stay within compliance of the City of Mason= s Sewer Ordinance and to maintain Inmate Commissary privileges for the inmates at the Ingham County Sheriff= s Office; and

WHEREAS, sufficient funds are available through the Inmate Commissary to pay for the environmental screening unit; and

WHEREAS, Purchasing & Properties have estimated the cost to construct and install an environmental screening unit for the jail= s sewer system at $125,000.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners approves the spending of up to $135,000 from the Inmate Commissary Fund to pay for the construction and installation of an environmental screening unit for the Jail= s sewer system.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the Controller to make the necessary adjustments in the Ingham County Sheriff= s Office 2000 Budget for this purpose.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the award of the contract to the contractor with the best proposal as determined by the Controller after Purchasing & Properties conducts their procurement process in accordance with Ingham County Procurement and Purchasing Policies.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the Board Chairperson and the County Clerk to sign the necessary contract documents subject to approval as to form by the County Attorney for this project.
